farosTM – Brings Light to the World!

At the ESCRS 2009 in Barcelona, Oertli Instruments AG will show its new surgical platform farosTM for the first time ever.
The control unit has been designed from scratch as a combined platform for work on the anterior and posterior eye sections but is also available as pure phaco machine with permanent upgrade possibilities to the posterior segment.
Whether it's for coaxial micro-incision surgery and easyPhaco®Technology in the anterior segment or minimal invasive pars plana vitrectomy in the posterior segment, farosTM makes possible the application of the most modern operating techniques. The device is equipped with a high-performance peristaltic pump that ensures the highest level of chamber stability, efficient abrasion of the vitreous body and precise work near the retina. In addition, farosTMhas a Goodlight® light source that - together with the new Oertli® light instruments - provides optimal illumination. farosTM works with up to 3000 cuts with the pneumatically-driven vitrectom. Neither STT nor IDK glaucoma operations are a problem for farosTM.
Oertli's development team has attached particular importance to easy handling and compactness. Compact means small, light, easy-to-use, inexpensive and, above all, reasonable, but without making any compromises on efficient performance and user-friendliness. Thanks to farosTM, cutting-edge vitrectomy operations also become accessible to emerging markets such as India or China.
Handling is based on the proven DirectAccess® control by key pressure. Oertli deliberately avoided a touch screen. farosTM can be individually programmed by up to 50 surgeons. The device is controlled via a new dual linear pedal. In addition, the device has standard cable-free remote control.
With farosTM, Oertli returns to a three-device strategy. farosTM bridges the gap between the small portable phaco device SwissTech® and the premium operating device OS3.
