As an Electronics Technician EFZ, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of medical technology. You’ll measure, test and develop electronic circuits, work on printed circuit boards, and gain insights into production, repair and process engineering.
The Electronics Technician EFZ apprenticeship lasts four years. During this time, you’ll gain experience in a variety of areas, from the development of electronic circuits and printed circuit board design to test systems, production, repair and process engineering
At Oertli, you’ll experience electronics as part of a multidisciplinary environment, working alongside teams in fields such as optics, pneumatics, software, mechanics, laser technology, design engineering and metrology. You’ll also gain insight into a range of in-house manufacturing processes, including turning, laser welding, cable assembly, device assembly and cleanroom manufacturing. This gives you a broad professional perspective and helps you understand how modern MedTech products are brought to life.
Development: In development, you’ll learn how ideas are evaluated and refined step by step. You’ll measure, test and analyse components, work with printed circuit board design, and gain insight into test systems as well as software-related topics.
Process Engineering: In process engineering, the focus is on improving workflows, testing procedures and technical processes in day to day operations. You’ll learn how production processes are structured, how technical challenges are analysed, and how electronics, mechanics and metrology work together within a company.
Production: In production, you’ll see how our devices, assemblies and cables are created from individual components. You’ll support the assembly, testing and commissioning of our surgical platforms and foot pedals. Along the way, you’ll learn why precision is so important in medical technology.
Repair Department: In the repair department, you’ll learn how to systematically identify technical faults and restore electronic systems to working order. You’ll analyse devices, review feedback from the field and develop a strong understanding of how our products perform in real world use.

Silvio works in research and development and is responsible for the electronics and software of the new platform foot pedals. As a vocational trainer, he supports Electronics Technicians EFZ throughout their apprenticeship, both professionally and personally, helping them develop technical expertise, precision and independent thinking.
Outside of work, Silvio is a dedicated family person. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two children, who are actively involved in a variety of sports.
