As a Production Mechanic EFZ at Oertli, you will learn how to manufacture mechanical components, set up machines and assemble modules with precision. You will develop technical understanding, practical craftsmanship and gain experience in a modern MedTech environment.
Conventional manufacturing: Here, you will learn the practical foundations of production mechanics. You’ll work with a variety of materials, read technical drawings, accurately measure workpieces and machine components through drilling, countersinking, reaming, turning and milling. Along the way, you’ll develop a strong sense of precision, quality and careful workmanship.
CNC manufacturing: In CNC manufacturing, you will gain insight into the computer-controlled machining of mechanical components. You’ll learn how CNC machines are constructed, how they are set up, commissioned and monitored. Inspecting and documenting the manufactured parts is also part of the process, ensuring that every result meets the required standards.
Assembly: In assembly, you’ll see how individual components come together to form modules, instruments or operating systems. You’ll learn a range of work steps, including assembling mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components, laser welding, labelling, sandblasting and cable assembly. This helps you understand how many precise individual parts are combined to create a fully functional product.
Specialisation in the third year of apprenticeship: At the end of your second year of apprenticeship, you and your training supervisors decide whether you would like to further specialise in CNC manufacturing or assembly. In CNC manufacturing, the focus is on precise machine operation and production processes. In assembly, you will learn how individual components are combined into modules, instruments and operating systems. This allows you to build on your strengths, gain valuable practical experience and apply your knowledge in your final project.
During a taster placement, you’ll get to know what everyday work in production mechanics is all about. You’ll gain insight into manufacturing and assembly, try out your first tasks and discover whether an apprenticeship as a Production Mechanic EFZ is the right fit for you.
