As an ICT Specialist EFZ, you work closely with both people and technology. You set up workstations, solve IT issues and learn how modern system applications are supported and further developed.
What does a day in an ICT apprenticeship really look like? In this video, you’ll get to know your vocational trainer and gain a personal insight into the tasks, the team and the world of IT at Oertli.

The apprenticeship as an ICT Specialist EFZ lasts three years. During this time, you will learn how IT works in everyday business, from supporting employees and setting up laptops to resolving technical issues. You will work wherever system applications need to function smoothly and people need support.
At Oertli, you become part of a small IT team that gradually introduces you to everyday working life. You won’t just watch from the sidelines. You’ll get involved in real tasks from the start, set up devices, create user accounts and take on responsibilities independently. Along the way, you’ll also gain insights that go beyond the standard training curriculum.
Support: In support, you work closely with employees. You handle IT enquiries, assist with technical issues and learn how to assess and process requests correctly. Your responsibilities also include setting up PCs and laptops, configuring user accounts and providing support with hardware and software questions.
Development: You’ll gain insight into automation and learn how recurring tasks can be solved more efficiently using scripts. Along the way, you’ll develop an understanding of how IT processes can be improved and how technical solutions can make everyday work easier for many people.
Repairs: When devices stop working, you’ll work together with the team to identify the cause. You’ll learn how to carry out simple repairs independently, check devices and involve external repair service providers when needed. Step by step, you’ll gain an understanding of how important a reliable IT infrastructure is for day to day operations.
Organisation: You’ll support a range of organisational IT tasks, such as onboarding new employees and preparing new workstations. You’ll also gain insight into IT training and learn how to explain technical topics in a clear and understandable way. This role requires more than just technical expertise. Patience, communication skills and enjoying working with people are just as important.
We will not be offering an ICT Specialist EFZ apprenticeship for the 2027 intake. However, you are still welcome to learn more about the profession and the training programme at Oertli and find out whether this career path is right for you.
