CONTINUOUS FLOW CUTTER

Constant flow. Stability when it matters.
The Continuous Flow Cutter ensures continuous aspiration thanks to its permanently open port, resulting in reduced traction on the retina compared to cutters with a conventional guillotine mechanism. A 0.1 mm narrow, double-edged blade cuts both  forwards and backwards, effectively doubling the removal of vitreous portions per cycle. The combination of our sophisticated fluidics system, continuous aspiration, and up to 10,000 cpm delivers powerful performance in the OR *.

A 61 % increase in aspiration flow at 23G significantly accelerates vitreous removal, while the enhanced stiffness improves the cutter’s stability 1.

The pneumatic drive based on the push-pull principle ensures continuous cutting force in both directions and eliminates the hysteresis seen in spring-driven cutters 1.

Features and benefits of the Continuous Flow Cutter

  •  Permanently open port generates less traction on the retina  1
  • 10,000 cpm with Faros
  •  Increased stiffness improves stability 1
  •  Significantly increased aspiration accelerates vitreous removal 1
  • Minimal distance from port opening to surface enables cutting close to the tissue

TO THE PRODUCT FINDER

Close cutting near the tissue
The minimal distance of 0.18 mm (27G) between the port opening and the surface allows work close to the tissue.

Higher aspiration for more efficiency

The higher the flow, the more efficient the procedure. Compared with the previous 23G Continuous Flow Cutter, the Continuous Flow Cutter delivers 61 % more aspiration flow at 23G, enabling efficient vitreous removal during vitrectomy 1*

Greater stability through increased stiffness

The thinner the gauge, the more stability matters. At 27G, the Continuous Flow Cutter delivers 81 % increased stiffness for improved stability 1*.

Injection / Extraction

In regard to injection/extraction, the Faros has made great use of the advantages of physics and fluidics and has brought about consistent safety and superb user-friendliness.
